History

This book is a long time in the making. I first came up the characters about 20 years ago while working on a piece of fan fiction based on a television show called “Scarecrow and Mrs. King.” The main character and several of the supporting characters were born out of that piece of fan fiction.

All the characters in Honor and Duty are fictional and not based on any person either real or fictionalized. Though some might see similarties of current television characters (or in some odd rare case, characters from some *wink, wink* canceled series), the characters in this book were conceived many years before some of the characters were even a figment of imagination of writers and producers.

The history of the book will contain early character drafts and what not. You can see the evolution process from ten years ago to what it is now. It’s an interesting ride to say the least.

Terms:

One-Shot is basically 1,000 word less free-writing excercise that I do with the characters sometimes to get the creative juices flowing. In some cases, these might end up being used in the novel. The one-shots can also serve as character backfiller.
